Construction Photographer UK - Luxury Home Building Photography Assignment
Professional UK Construction Photographer, Scott Ramsey, grabs his steel toe capped boots, hard hat, cameras and hi-vis jacket and spends the day photographing the installation of a roof for a UK luxury home building company.
Covering a construction photography assignment for a client usually involves an early start, especially if I'm required to visit a large construction site. Not that I particularly mind, as I specialise in creating documentary-style photographs, I often need to spend a day or two on-site to enable me to create my authentic-looking photographs of the trades and construction team working.
Building a house can take time, so typically during a construction site photography shoot, I'll fit in with the works schedule for the day. I like to arrive first thing and before the work starts, as it allows me time to introduce myself, prepare for the day ahead and explain what I need to photograph. Spending time to connect with the construction workers on-site is crucial as it enables me to build a bond with them. After all, they're there to get a job done and need to know that I'm a professional construction photographer who has experience taking photographs on house building sites and large civil engineering projects. It doesn't take long, usually the time it takes to drink a cup of coffee is enough, but it's well worth it, and in my experience, makes all the difference to the final photographs.
I took these construction photographs for a UK based luxury home building company. The house building project was well underway, and I was hired to spend a couple of days photographing the installation of the roof.
