Event photography is a lot of fun, and I'm lucky enough to have photographed some fascinating people at many of the beautiful locations we have here in Sussex.
Heck, I love the chance to get dressed up, twirl my moustache and spend the evening taking photos ;-)
Typically I'm booked a few weeks before an event, which allows me time to prepare for the assignment and visit the venue, but this assignment was slightly different! Through no fault of their own the organisers of this event, Lucy & Rosie, had been let down at the last minute by their photographer, what a nightmare! With only a few hours to go before their launch party things weren't looking promising, so they put a shoutout to their contacts, and I was recommended. Thankfully, I was available, and a few hours after receiving their message I joined them and was taking photographs as they officially launched Rume2, a brand new coworking space in the heart of Chichester.
I'm a great believer in creating natural photographs at an event, as nobody likes an overzealous photographer, so I spent the evening photographing people as they looked around the new offices and chatted while having a drink. The evening was a great success, and it was a real pleasure to be able to help out at the last minute. I even managed time to take a few press photos which I syndicated to my local newspaper and magazine contacts along with a press release after the event. And to top it all off the client and their guests loved my photographs, perfect.
