Street Photography - Early Morning In Seville Spain Documenting The Seville April Fair
UK Street Photographer, Scott Ramsey travels to Seville in Spain to photograph the city's famous April Fair.
I took this photograph back in 2018, very earlier in the morning on the second day of the April Fair. The Seville Fair is held in the Andalusian capital of Seville, Spain each year. The fair officially begins at midnight on Saturday, and runs seven days, ending on Saturday. Each day, the fiesta begins with a carriages and riders' parade, at midday, carrying Seville's leading citizens.
For the fair's duration, the fairgrounds and a vast area on the Guadalquivir River's far bank are covered in rows of casetas (individual decorated marquee tents which are temporarily built on the fairground). These casetas usually belong to Seville's prominent families, groups of friends, clubs, trade associations, and political parties. From around nine at night until six or seven the following morning, at first in the streets and later only within each caseta, crowds are partying and dancing, drinking Sherry, manzanilla or rebujito, and eating tapas.
This photograph shows two smart-looking young men walking through the city's streets before sunrise. They've spent all night at the fair partying and now tired and probably hungover they return home or to their hotel rooms to sleep.
During my many years working as a professional photographer, I've learned to step away from the centre of the action/story. It's easy to think that all your time needs to be focused in one place, on this occasion at the fair. But, I've learned that you'll often find some beautiful images that help tell the story perfectly on the event/story's fringes.
